We have a lot of fun creating and exploring with students across the region—whether at our school in Barrie, in their homes, a coffee shop, the Sandbox Centre, a library, Events or pretty much anywhere else. All we need is some paper, pencils & positivity!

What better way to close out the Christmas Break than using our imaginations and spending 2 great days learning to design & develop characters and animate together!

We had a great time with these 2 very talented students, creating & exploring our imaginations—a small group never puts a damper on our fun!

UCW: CONTOUR CONNECTION
(3 Evenings-Fall 2024)
Our first of many Upchuckle Creative Workshops (UCW) series for adults at Upchuckle Education. Contour Connection, was led by talented gifted artist, Corrie Sherwin, students explored the importance of artistic observation and confidence through blind contour drawing in this calming workshop series, along with adding pops of colour with watercolour. It was a wonderful series that we look forward to having return to Upchuckle!

Cartoon Camp—How To: ANIMATE!

We had a great time exploring the principles of Animation and creating flipbooks and stop-motion animation with this group of talented students.

Oatley Vigmond’s Accessible Halloween Village
(1 Day—Sunday, October.27th, 2024)
We were so excited to be invited to participate in Oatley Vigmond’s Accessible Halloween Village. A wonderful event for those with accessibility and other accommodations to be able to trick or treat in this wonderfully safe, fun and accessible event.

Cartoon Camp—Halloweenie Edition
(1 Day—P.A.Day, Friday, October.25th, 2024)
It was a spooky Cartoon Camp full of monsters, creatures, creativity, costumes and candy….so, so much candy. We had a costume contest (with prizes) and our amazing students spent a good part of the day creating Halloween-Themed colouring pages to be given out to children with accessibility accommodations at Oatley Vigmond’s Accessible Halloween Village, which took place only a couple of days later.

Cartoon Camp—How to: Draw GREAT Characters!

We had a wonderful time with this fantastic group of students drawing and exploring how to design GREAT characters with personalities on the first P.A. Day of the School year!

Innisfil IdeaLAB & Library MakerFEST
(1 Day—Saturday, Sepember.14th, 2024)
We’re always excited to be invited to work with members of the community and MakerFEST was a blast, drawing random drawing prompts with people at the amazing Innsifil IdeaLAB! A BIG thanks to photographer, Jim Craigmyle for snapping these photos!

Cartoon Camp—Summer Week 2 (for ages 8-12)

We didn’t let an oddly low enrollment ruin our GREAT week of imagination, creativity and learning together! We had an awesome time drawing, exploring 1 & 2-point perspective and animating!

Cartoon Camp—P.A. Day (for grades 3-8)
(1 Day—Friday, June.28th, 2024)
What better way to celebrate the very end of school than our students animating their VERY FIRST creations? We had a great time working with these passionate filmmakers as they learned and experimented with creating flipbooks and even some stop-motion animation! Things got messy—but it’s always worth it!

Cartoon Camp—P.A. Day (for grades 3-8)
(1 Day—Friday, June.7th, 2024)
We had a great day drawing characters & expressions with this talented group of students! This was a big one as it was also our very first Cartoon Camp held in our own location! Not seen in any of these photos is our wonderful Cartoon Camp Volunteer (and Photographer), Corrie Sherwin. Thanks very much for your help this day, Corrie!

Innisfil ideaLAB & Library—1st Comic Fest 2024
(1 day—April.27th, 2024) Venue: The Innisfil ideaLab & Library
We were thrilled to be invited to conduct art & animation workshops at Innisfil IdeaLAB’s VERY FIRST Comic Fest!!! The entire event was a big success full of vendors, cosplayers & fun! We had a great time & look forward to coming back again next year!

We didn’t let a low turnout for this Cartoon Camp put any kind of damper on the day! We had a great time designing characters, practicing storytelling and animating flipbooks together! A very talented pair of students!

Aspire Services Social Club—Cartoons & Coffee
(1 Evening—Dec.6th, 2023) Venue: Williams Cafe, Barrie
We had a wonderful time slurping coffee, chatting & conducting fun drawing exercises with the wonderful Aspire Services Social Club at Williams. We’re looking forward to doing it again soon! This event was exclusively for neurodivergent adults who had a lot of talent & so many wonderful ideas and stories to tell.

Comic Fest 2023
(1 day—September 23rd, 2023) Venue: The Barrie Public Library
We were thrilled to be invited by the Barrie Public Library to have a booth at Comic Fest 2023. We had a fantastic time chatting with attendees and conducting drawing workshops & exercises (and of course, admiring the amazing cosplayers!).

Cartoon Camp for Teens—Storyboarding & Storytelling
(5 days—August 14th-18th, 2023) Venue: Office space, Barrie Ontario
It was only the two of us for this week, but that didn’t stop us from having a great time working together & covering a lot of ground! We explored drawing in perspective, storyboarding & shot selection/camera angles, story-telling & even finished the week with a completed 5-page script! We worked in some bonus Procreate training too!

Cartoon Camp for Teens—Character Design
(5 days—August 8th-12th, 2023) Venue: Sir Games-a-lot, Bayfield Mall, Barrie Ontario
We had a lot of laughs & fun, creative learning this week at Cartoon Camp! Not only a great deal of talent & imagination (not to mention, PIZZA!), but also great confidence-building and growth throughout the week!

A great day of cartoon drawing at Stronger Together Studio, with a broad age range of kids & teens. Some real talent here & fantastic strides in ability seen throughout the day!
