Take your first step into the FUNdamentals of hand-drawn animation with this lively 3-hour flipbook workshop for adults 18+.
We’ll start with the same exercise used to train countless professional animators: the classic bouncing ball.
Learn the beginning core principles that make motion believable, including squash and stretch, timing and slow-in/slow-out. By the end of the class, you’ll have your very own animated flipbook (or two) and a clearer sense of how cool it is to bring your drawings to life. If time permits, we’ll explore two important versions of the exercise: one ball bouncing on the spot in a looping cycle, and another bouncing across the page to study arcs and momentum in action.
This is the first and prerequisite workshop in the UCW Flipbook Animator series. It’s designed to help beginners and hobbyists explore the 200+ year-old artform of animation one small project at a time.
Perfect to enjoy solo, bring a date, or create with friends.
Leave your flipbook with us at the end so we can film it and email your video to you. (You can swing by later to pick up your flipbook too.)
No experience needed, just a splash of curiosity and a willingness to try!
DEDICATED LEARNING FROM AN INDUSTRY PRO!
This 3-hour workshop is offered multiple times each year, giving you more chances to jump in and explore animation at your own pace.
